Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
