Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
Stateside performer Finn, who featured in beloved programs like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.
"He never met a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a statement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
