Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with results like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
