Squad Evaluations: The Three Lions Victory Secured by Kane's Brace in International Qualifying Match

In a impressive display, England secured one more triumph against their opponents, with several squad members delivering memorable performances on the pitch.

Starting XI

The goalkeeper Had little to do to make in the first half before tested by an opponent's curling effort. One well-timed sliding challenge against Qazim Laci highlighted sharp anticipation. Six out of ten

Jarell Quansah Examined by the opposition's biggest threat in their forward. Operated through the middle to begin with later drifted wider once a teammate was introduced. 7

John Stones Advanced up the pitch on the ball, something he's known for in the past. At times seemed hesitant on the ball and the approach was shelved at half-time. Six

The tall defender A nuisance from dead balls, per usual, could serve as an alternative to his teammate in defense as opposed to his partner. A careless ball later in the match almost led to an opener for Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly Another assured performance from the youngster following his first cap against another side. Saka did not capitalize on the most of an exquisite touch over their defense. His position is his to lose at this stage. 7/10

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning with the national team. A bit sloppy when playing out but his inswinging set-pieces caused problems. A useful game manager for the coach to have versus defensive opponents. Cautioned for a poorly timed challenge. 6/10

The midfielder Crosses from dead balls and free-kicks caused problems. Was given room to drift down the left flank yet found himself in an offside position upon receiving in front of goal. Awarded a deserved break after an hour. Six

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward role out wide while also did plenty of dirty work. Displayed moments of class but scuffed an effort wide. Replaced in the closing stages for Rogers, his competition, after being booked. 7/10

The winger Had the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his effort well saved from the Albanian keeper. With a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to stretch the play down the right side yet his deliveries from wide areas were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. Six

The captain The match-winner netting 77th and 78th goals in an England shirt. The opener a typical opportunist's goal and his next an excellent header having drifted away off his defender. Now 32, his form is unwavering and the side stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him leading the line. Eight

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to make an impact out wide. Had a decent opportunity when set up by the midfielder yet the keeper made the save. His replacement had a greater effect when substituted. 5/10

Bench Players

  • Foden (replacing Rice on 63 minutes) Was bright connecting effectively with the striker in more familiar role, 6
  • Saka (on for Eze 63) Failed to convert but his corner created the opener, Six
  • Rashford (replacing Bowen 75) Active after coming on and provided the second goal with a brilliant delivery to the far post, 7
  • Elliot Anderson (for the midfielder 75) Looks established already, Six
  • Morgan Rogers (replacing Bellingham with minutes remaining) Too brief a spell to make an impact, 6/10
